Everyone is being asked this question since TurboTax does not know if the user was one who received these advances from the IRS in 2021.

Enter a 0 (zero) when asked to enter a number on the Schedule 8812. This will correct the issue and remove the Schedule 8812 from your tax return so that you can file the return.

same thing happened to me with 2 tax forms.  seems like the program should have included that question in the step by step or even when you select your own forms.  I had to search around to see where the form was driven and did not find it. finally entered 0 in the form but waste of time.

    It is in the step-by-step.

In step-by-step mode I got rid of it by filling out the You and Your Family section in Deductions & Credits.  Since I have no children, after answering the 5 or 6questions, the review stopped asking about the form and the 8812 disappeared.

We have used Turbo Tax for years and not had this problem come up.  We are retired and when running errors check it keeps stating I need to input information for form 8812 child tax credit.  We have no dependents or children, so why does this form keep popping up.  Very frustrating, and I see that numerous other people are having issues with this.  Please help us all resolve this issue.

Why am I being asked to fill out Form 8812 when I have no dependent children and no advance payments?

The 8812 has to do with the child tax credit.  Everyone is being asked whether or not they received any child tax credit.  You just need to answer NO to the questions.

I keep getting an error message when my federal return is checked for accuracy.  I am told I need to enter "advance payments" on form 8812.  I can't find out what this is.

@vha2014   Form 8812 is for the Advance Child Tax Credit.  Did you get any?  Do you have children?  It has to ask everyone if you got it.  If you don't have any children then answer no and put in 0.

I followed the process provided by Mike029 and it worked perfectly form me.  Once completing his process, I was able to successfully delete Form 8812
