Why wont the AOC deduct even though i am eligible, on 1098T I have in box 1 I have $6809 tuition paid, box 5 $1606 shcolarships, at the end it says it will use lifetime

at the end it says it calculates that the lifetime is a better option, but it doesnt take off nearly as much as what the AOC should, $2000 credit then 25% of the next $2000, total of 2500, it is taking off about $1200

Be sure you continue through all the education interviews. 

Answer the "Education Information" interview located on the "Here's Your Education Summary" screen. 

You''l know you're done after you click "Maximize My Education Tax Break". 

(Federal, Deductions & credits, scroll down to "Education" click edit next to the student's name, walk through that interview to get to the "Here's Your Education Summary" screen.
