Student loans are not a deduction in the United States. However, the interest paid from student loans is an adjustment (deduction) to income. You will need to have a form 1098-E (sent by the issuers of the loan) to report this.

Sounds good! Since they don't use that form in Norway will it suffice if I send them a blank one for them to fill out? Thank you for your reply.
