Should TurboTax software pick up an EXACT duplicate of a 1098?

I just got hit with a $750 tax bill because the software failed to pickup a duplicate 1098. Shouldn't the software be able to find EXACT duplicates?

TurboTax does not check for duplicate entries. It relies on you to enter your information accurately. Sometimes a duplicate could be legitimate.

Most of the additional amount that you had to pay is tax that you would have had to pay originally if your tax return had been correct.

Is it related to this?  On 6/30/23 Turbo Tax posted about duplicate 1098 forms.  And they may have sent out an email giving you a credit.
