in Education
I have a senior in college and have been reporting his Education expenses in TurboTax Deluxe for the past 3 years. This year, Deluxe did not ask me to enter his Form 1098-T and listed tuition expenses of $0. Likely I caught this because it would have reduced my refund by $2,500 for the missed American Opportunity Credit. My son's information was uploaded from the previous year's tax return. I had to delete him from the return and reenter his information to fix the problem. This is year 4 he claimed the credit so is still eligible. This identical problem happened to a friend of mine who also has education expenses. He missed the mistake and paid $1,200 to the IRS instead of getting a $1,300 refund.

Thank you for the feedback; I will submit your concerns. Just to clarify so we better understand the issue - Did you not go through the education expenses section in the Deductions & Credits section? Or did you visit that section but did not get prompted to enter his 1098-T?
I did go through the education expense section in Deductions & Credits and did NOT get prompted to enter his 1098-T.

To enter, edit or delete Education Expenses -
Or enter education expenses in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to education expenses
I am having the same issue as mb1999. My son graduated in 2019 and I have his Form 1098-T for 2019. This is my third year of using Premier installed on my PC. I have gone through "walk me through everything" from the start and I am not prompted to enter the 1098-T information. When I view the summary at "Here's what we covered so far," the Expenses and Scholarships indicates $0 for 2019 even though I never was prompted to enter an amount. The amount that is shown for the previous tax year, 2018, is correct.
When I follow either of the two sets of instructions from DoninGA, I still can't enter Tuition and enrollment fees. That item shows $0 and is not in a box and cannot be edited. Turbotax is worthless to me if I cannot enter college tuition.
Go through the entire education interview until you reach a screen titled "Your Education Expenses Summary". Click edit next to the student's name. That should take you to a screen “Here’s your Education Summary”. Click edit next to the section you want to change; tuition, in your case.
