Yes, fees paid for individual instruction by a qualified instructor, such as tutoring and music lessons qualify for either the subtraction or the credit.
To enter your K-12 education expenses in your Minnesota return, please follow these steps:
- Go into your MN return.
- On the screen, K-12 Education Credit click the Yes box.
- On the screen, Qualifying Expenses and School click the Yes box.
- Continue through the screens, entering the requested information.
- If you don't qualify for the K-12 Education Credit, you may qualify for the Education Expenses Deduction. TurboTax will walk you through the steps.
