My daughter is getting her masters with a Fulbright award at London schools of Economics. Fulbright does not issue a 1098 or 1099. How do I do this with TurboTax?

Fulbright award letter has the amount of the award. We have the vouchers for 2017.

IRS says deduct expenses and report difference as income. How do I do this with Turbotax? Other income requires 1099G. If I say I don't have one it gives up.

If your taxable scholarship amount was not reported on a Form 1098-T, you can see the steps for entering the scholarship amount into TurboTax is as follows:

  • Log in to your TurboTax Online account, or open your TurboTax CD/Download program
  • Choose Take me to my return
  • Click on Federal Taxes
  • Click on Wages & Income
  • Locate Less Common Income and click Show more
  • Locate and click to Start next to Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C
  • Answer Yes to Did you receive any other wages?
  • On the following screen you will locate Other reportable income and click Start
  • Then you will enter SCH in the description box and the amount
  • Click Done

You can report it as other income on Form 1040 line 21. Here's how to enter it in TurboTax.

·        Click the Federal Taxes tab ( Personal in the Home & Business version)

·        Click Wages & Income. (Personal income in the H & B version)

·        On the screen "Your 2017 Income Summary," scroll all the way down to the last section, "Less Common Income."

·        Click the Start or Update button for the last topic, "Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C."

·        On the next screen, "Let's Work on Any Miscellaneous Income," scroll down and click the Start or Update button for the last topic, "Other reportable income."

·        The next screen asks, "Did you receive any other taxable income." Click Yes.

·        On the next screen, "Other Taxable Income," enter a description and the amount. Click Continue.

·        On the next screen click Done.

The income will be reported on Form 1040 line 21 with the description that you entered.
