If the course was to earn a certificate, the fee for that class could be claimed; however, the school needs to issue you a 1098-T for you to enter the expense.

Contact the school and see if you can get a 1098-T issued, also it might be located on your online student account.

trying to file my taxes but it says they want me to upgrade because of the lifetime learning credit. I do not even have that credit so why would I upgrade?
