When you get to the end of the Education section, TurboTax will give reasons why you didn't qualify for a credit.
Generally, if you have educations expenses paid out-of-pocket (or with loans) that exceed scholarships/grants, you could qualify for a credit.
If you received a 1098-T, the Box 1 or Box 2 amount must be greater than the Box 5 amount.
