The loan is on my name, however a family member is currently paying the interest on it. If deductions can be made, what are the minimum and maximum amounts? Also, can I deduct any travel that I made to my country on the tax forms?

Yes - If the loan is in your name (as borrower) and interest is paid during the year, then you will be able to take to claim student loan interest if the loan meets the eligibility requirements.
