I commute from home to student teaching and then to work or graduate night classes. I have been told that my miles are considered personal commute (non-deductible) and others have said they're deductible because they are work related (in pursuit of a career). I am looking for a definite answer to this.

COMMUTING EXPENSES
The expenses of commuting to and from work (or to and from school) such as gas, tolls, bus fare, train fare, taxis, Uber rides, parking, etc. are not deductible on your Federal return. Sorry.
Note: You can, however, claim expenses for travel between job sites
