How do I know what state(s) I have lived in being a college student?

It depends.

If you are only away in a different state to go to college, then you are considered to be away from home temporarily. You would still consider your home state to be the resident state where you resided before starting college.

However, if you have established a permanent home in another state, then you may have residency in the new state if you intend to live there indefinitely.
