How can I check the status of my tax return in relation to student loans from 2019?

The amount that was owed was taken from my refund. I was notified that it was paid in full in 2020 and now I can't find any paperwork to prove that. My previous college is closed permanently so Im not sure how to go about finding this information.

You can check your IRS transcript here. The tax account transcript is the type of transcript you should download. It is available for the current and previous nine years. It will show any adjustments made after you filed your return.
