Claiming college expenses and documents needed for my return

How do I claim my laptop used for my online courses and the books bought/rented outside of the school? The books were required but not required to be purchased directly from the school. I also had expenses for an online science class, materials for the labs, can those be claimed? Once I filed, a statement came up saying I needed documents for my tax return but it did not tell me what documents needed to be sent; where can I find those?

If it is for a course for your work (Working individual) or will be in the future (Student), it counts as long as you have a receipt!
