1099 - NEC for apprenticeship classes

My son received a 1099-NEC from his union's apprenticeship program. He has 14 days of classes every 5 months. The apprenticeship program pays about $90 per class to offset the hours & pay they are missing at their shop typically. Would this be considered a sporatic activitiy?

Q.  Would this be considered a sporadic activity? 

A. No, because it's directly related to his regular line of work.
