Where do I enter Section 1256 Transactions (Regulated Future Contracts and Options)?

I received form 1099-B from my Broker and it has separate section with Amounts filled in under "Regulated Future Contracts and Options (Section 1256 Transactions)". Where do I enter this information?

Where do I enter Section 1256 Transactions (Regulated Future Contracts and Options)?

After a lot of time, I found it!

Go into "Wages & Income."

Scroll down to "Less Common Income."

Scroll down to "Form 6781 - Gains and Losses from Section 1256."

Gains and Losses from Section 1256 Contracts and Options are entered from the Investment Income-Contracts & Straddles section in TurboTax.

  • (desktop) Personal Income > Investment Income > Contracts & Straddles  or
  • (TurboTax Online) Federal > Wages & Income > Less Common Investments and Savings > Contracts & Straddles .

Literally had to educate Turbo Tax on where to find it. Dawn posts after I posted the solution. No one from TT ever answered this, not online nor by the multiple calls to them. They had no clue. Leaving TT and going to Dave Ramsey Smart Tax.
