Where do I enter my 1099-R on my 1041 estate trust return?

Thank you. Also, with regards to 1041 interest income is anything required other than the amount reported on 1099-int (for example payer and tin number)?

No, you retain the form for your records; it is not transmitted with your return.

The payer and TIN are recorded in the program on worksheets which you should retain with your records.

what I meant to ask should the payer and tin number of payer be shown in the description area on 1041 to the left of the amount or is the amount enough?  On 1040 the payer shows up in description area.

The amount is sufficient.

Thanks again!

Where do I enter my 1099-R on my 1041 estate trust return?

What if the 1099-R is for a 1035 exchange?  T-Tax Business and Trusts does not have a place to enter the "6" as the code for Box 7.

Where do I enter my 1099-R on my 1041 estate trust return?

@PWCO1980

A tax-free 1035 exchange does not need to be reported.

If there is a zero ($0) in Box 2a, you do not need to enter anything on your 1041.

Where do I enter my 1099-R on my 1041 estate trust return?

I have a 1099R for an NUA distribution of a 401K.  Box 1 includes the total of all the stock (NUA), and the Cash  non NUA part of the distribution (mutual funds cashed out).  Box 2a includes only the Cash amount, box 6 includes only the NUA (stock) amount.

From reading these answers, I assume I only have to input the amount in box 2a and do not even need to report box 6.  So the only data I enter is box 2a . Is this correct?  It just does not feel correct to not report box 6.

Thank You.

@pierre 78 See the first answer in this thread and refer to the screenshot below re withholding.

if there was a living successor beneficiary (heir to the a/c), the 1099-R would not get reported on the 1041

Very frustrating that Turbo tax does not include entry of 1099-R.  Really dumb.

Where do I enter my 1099-R on my 1041 estate trust return?

This is why I dropped Turbotax Business in favor of TaxAct.  That and the non-support for Macs

Entering Form 1099-R Pension Income (Withdrawals) into Form 1041
May also be used for other Miscellaneous Income

@Bkatko

Please see the attached "Walk-through that demonstrates entering the tax data from Form 1099-R into Form 1041 for Estates or Trusts.

  • You will  have gone to Federal Taxes - Income -> Other Income or Loss and
    START  Other Income or Loss
    Answer Yes to "Any Other Income?
  • See Page 1 of attachment for where you make the entry on "Other Income "
    -  Here you will enter "1099-R Pension Income: and the Amount
  • Page 2 shows the result with the Form 1099-R entered
  • Page 3 shows the First Page of Form 1041 in the Income Section where the entry from 1099-R is
    transferred to report income
  • Page 4 is where, if there was withholding, you enter that

Yes - that is taken from the PDF I posted on 3/17/2021
Seems noone bothers to scroll down to answers already posted.
I reposted an updated answer with additional screens on 2/18/2022
naturally no comment from either the complainer about TurboTax nor the taxpayer with the question
Very disappointing.
