TT will not let me link my K-1 to my Schedule E. When doing my review it prompts me to link them, but nothing populates the drop down. Does anyone know the fix for this?

I have a partnership K-1 that reports business income in box 1 only. TT is asking me to link it to my Schedule E. The drop-down is blank and double-clicking does nothing. When I skip to the next blank it shows the business info on a Schedule E and it's asking me to describe the property type. I feel like it is being treated like a rental property.

You do not enter your K-1 information directly to your Schedule E.  To correct this you need to delete your Schedule E and verify your K-1 is entered correctly.

To do this in TurboTax Online you can follow these steps:

  1. Within your return in TurboTax Online search for Schedule E.
  2. Click the Jump to link in the search results.
  3. Delete the self-employment income line with the trash can icon.
  4. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the screen.
  5. Click on Delete a Form.
  6. Scroll down to your Schedule C and Schedule SE and click Delete if they are still there.
  7. Search for K-1 and progress through the questions for entering the data from your form
  8. Schedule E is automatically populated and does not need to be linked
