1099-NEC - What's the "Account number" for?

In my 1099-NEC there is a box on the lower left corner of the form called "Account number". There's a number there, but TurboTax ignored it. What's this account number for and why is it on my form but I don't report it to Turbotax?

1099-NEC - What's the "Account number" for?

It is a number used only by the issuer of the form.   The IRS doesn't need it nor do they want it, so TurboTax doesn't ask.   The only information on the 1099-NEC that the IRS wants to match up is the Payer ID, amount, and withholding, if any.
