If you entered a 1099-MISC with income in Box 3, the program needs to either link it to Schedule C as self-employment income. Otherwise, the interview questions need to be answered in such a way so that the income is listed as "Other Income" and not self-employment.
To clarify, for what reason was the income paid?
Ok. And how or what I should do to link it to schedule C or which form I need to submit. ? How Can I listed as other income?
Since income reported on Form 1099-NEC needs to be reported on Schedule C, the program is trying to tie these two forms together to be sure that it is reported correctly and on the right form.
Try going back to the section where you entered the Form 1099-NEC if you entered it on its own and delete that entry. Use these steps:
This will bring you to the summary of all Form 1099-NEC that you have entered. Click Delete or the trash can icon next to each one.
Next, you will re-enter the Form 1099-NEC as part of the Schedule C so that the income is reported directly as part of your Business Income and Expenses.
Use these steps to go to the Schedule C section of your return. If you do not have a Schedule C yet, follow the steps on the screen to get started.
If you already have a Schedule C in your return, edit it and go to the section to Add Income. This is where you will re-enter the Form 1099-NEC.
If you do not already have a Schedule C in your return, follow the prompts and enter the information about your work/business for which you received the Form 1099-NEC. Then continue through that section to Add Income and enter the Form 1099-NEC plus any other income you received for that self-employed business.
Don't forget you can also claim expenses related to your business.
If the income is not self-employment income, then after you have entered the Form 1099-NEC, indicate in the follow-up questions that you received the income from a sporadic activity or hobby. This will report it as other income.
Hello. the form its 1099-MISC not 1099- NEC, then what I should do?
Is income reported in box 3 of the IRS Form 1099-MISC or some other box? Please confirm.
Income reported in box 3 of IRS Form 1099-MISC may be reported following these steps:
The income will be listed on line 8z of the Schedule 1 Additional Income and Adjustments to Income and line 8 of the Federal 1040 tax return. View the entries at Tax Tools / Print Center / Print, save or preview this year's return / Include government and TurboTax worksheets.
yes in the box 3 of the IRS FORM 1099-MISC
I follow all that steps but in the review part keep saying this, and i do not know what I should do now.
If you do not have self-employed income (a Schedule C) to link this amount to, you need to follow the steps listed by @JamesG1 above in order to enter it correctly. You may want to delete the form as it was input and re-input it with the specific answers listed above.
To delete the form in TurboTax Online please follow these steps:
Hello!
Can someone help me please?
Thank you.
Delete the 1099-MISC, delete the sch C, in that order. I think you are deleting and the program is holding the information. Do this:
Log back in. Your 1099-MISC should not be entered in the 1099-MISC section since it is giving you trouble. It should be entered as other income as described above. Again, the steps are: follow these steps:
