I would say fairly common--or at least "not uncommon."  There are a lot of questions in this forum from people who are having to amend their returns for one reason or another.    If you need help in this forum, mention what you did wrong, and folks may be able to tell you how to correct it.   

How did you file?  Can we assume that you efiled your original return and that it was accepted for processing by the IRS?  What made you realize that you need to amend?
