Do you have Section 199A dividends in box 5 of a 1099-DIV? That is qualified business income and requires Form 8995.
No I literally only had a W-2 this year.
Are you using the same TurboTax account that you used to file your 2022 tax return?
And did your 2022 tax return include self-employment income on Schedule C?
If so, you may have carried forward the self-employment activity from last year when you created this year's tax return.
The self-employment activity may have generated IRS form 8995 or you may have a carryforward on IRS form 8995.
It looks like there is a $1 on reit dividends on a mutual fund i have. Obviously no deduction. Is this necessary for this form?
Thanks in advance
REIT dividends do qualify for the Qualified Business Income deduction, but as you stated, due to the amount, you won't qualify for any credit. TurboTax will generate Form 8995 because of the $1 in Box 5 of your 109-DIV. @ld1995
