Did you receive a W-2 for the work you did in 2019? If you did you may not have to file a tax return if your income was below $12,200 if you filed single, $24,400 if you filed married jointly or $18,350 if you filed as Head of Household. However, if you received a 1099-MISC for your earnings you will have to file a tax return.
I received just a W-2. from Integrity Staffing Solutions It was my understanding that I could recover some of the taxes that was taken from my paycheck. I worked part time-temporary on weekends from Nov.16,2019-Feb.16,2020. They took out about 25% of my money for taxes each weekend.
I do receive social security each month, and I am a 79 yr. old widow for the past 12 yrs.
If you file a return, you may recoup all or part of your withholding. You can only get back what they withheld in Box 2. Boxes 4 and 6 are for medicare and social security. You can't recover those amounts on your tax return.
Your W-2 should only cover your earnings in 2019.
