No, getting or not getting a stimulus check would have nothing to do with the tax preparation software you choose to use. Many folks did not receive the $600 stimulus check (yet) who should have definitely received it by now. As for the 3rd stimulus check (first round came out today), if you filed a 2020 return early enough and the IRS has already processed that return - and the information was significantly different than in 2019 (much greater or greater enough income) then you might not have qualified for the third stimulus payment. That would all depend on many factors. If you have not yet filed your 2020 (as you state above), then the IRS would still be going by 2019 information for the third stimulus payment. If you received the first stimulus payment, then you should have received the second and should be receiving the third. I would give it about a week at most and then check with the IRS to see if there has been a status update. The IRS website is running very slow with their own updates so please be patient and give it some time.
The IRS has just started sending out Stimulus #3, and will continue to do so over the coming weeks.
I'm working on my 2020 return as we speak. I didn't receive my $600 second covid payment but i received the first. I understand that line 30 is the correct place for this credit but I cant find that question while doing the return
In TurboTax Online, you are prompted to input stimulus check 1 and stimulus check 2 information under Review down the left hand side of the screen. You can also access your stimulus check choices by following these steps:
Down the left side of the screen, click on Federal.
If you have not received one or both of your stimulus checks, you will receive your payment in the form of a Recovery Rebate Credit on line 30 of your 2020 Federal tax return when you file.
TurboTax will compare your one or two stimulus payment amounts to the computations within TurboTax. The computations within TurboTax are based upon the information that you have entered into the tax software. If you are due an additional amount, it will be issued as a Recovery Rebate Credit (RRC) on line 30 of the 2020 1040 tax return.
