I am not the sole proprietor

I am trying to finish my taxes.  I was paid for a military contract with a 1099-MISC.   After I finished it all up, the Turbotax I have (not online-downloaded on my computer) checks for errors.  I am stuck on a page that wants me to fill out all the information for being the "sole proprietor" of the business that I got the 1099-MISC for.  I am not the sole proprietor.  It was a simple one week military thing and I'm done.

I went online looking for answers, but all the solutions involve doing Turbotax online and not the one that is download.  None of the solutions work for this different platform.

When you enter your 1099-Misc, you can indicate that this payment is for work 'not like my main job' and that you had 'no intent to earn money' (screenshots).

This will put the income into Other Taxable Income on your return.

However, if you want to claim Expenses against this Income, you will want to set yourself up as Self-Employed and report the Income & Expenses on Schedule C.

I have never understood why the examples that are always put out by the company, is never, ever like the current edition of their product.

OK, you said I should check the block that says "no, it didn't involve work like my main job"... no problem, I did that.  However, the next screen does not say anything at all about "earning money", and it is nowhere to be found.  The next screen is "how often did I get income for this job", and the "check the block" answers are "I got it in 2019" and there is another I checked that says "I intend to get it in 2020".

But nothing like what you posted

If you check two boxes (I got income in 2019 and I intend to get in 2020), then you will not see an option about the "intention to earn money."  That's because it appears you are attempting to earn money and therefore it is a business. That will be the case in either the desktop or online versions.  If this was a one-time and done just select the "received in 2019" option and the next page will ask the "intent" question.
