How to determine how much I use communication for personal versus business use

I use my internet and phone for both personal and business use  I am self-employed.  I don't know how to determine the percentage of personal use versus business use.  Do I need documentation?

You can estimate the amount of time you use for both.  Conservative estimates are best.  If you use your internet for 3 hours a day for work and about 3 hours a day for personal use, then it is used 50% of the time for business.  The same for your phone.
