Turbo tax errors out when I try to calculate taxes inputting information for a foreign K-1 that doesn't have an EIN. Other posts on this site say to file a Form 8865, however, in the instructions there is no filing necessary if the investments in the partnership do not meet the definitions for the different categories of fliers (i.e., under 10%, <$100k total investment, etc.).
Form 8865 does not even appear to be supported by TurboTax. How do you attached a form to the return that isn't supported and file electronically?
So, no 8865 required, and Turbo tax is stuck, and won't let me process tax return without entering a EIN.

You won't be able to file your tax return electronically if you input a K-1 schedule that doesn't have a federal ID number. And you are correct, TurboTax does not support form 8865, so you would have to mail your return in and physically attach that form after completing it manually.
There are many categories of individuals who are required to file form 8865, you would have to read through the instructions to form 8865 to see if you fall into one of the categories. You can learn more here: Form 8865 instructions
