Hello,
my wife and I are partners in a LLC created in CT, and doing rental business in CT only.
We have moved to NJ early 2020.
Does our LLC need to file business taxes in NJ?
Thank you
Christophe

No, if all of your business is conducted in CT, the CT 1065 will suffice. The partnership will issue you both K-1s that you will need to report on your NJ part-year resident personal tax return.
Thank you Dawn for your answer.
The CT tax department has told me that because my LLC is doing only rental business in CT, with no sales nor services, I don't need to file a CT state return for the LLC.
So as a conclusion for this LLC:
- A Federal return to file, producing K-1s to be attached to my personal tax returns
- No CT business return to file
- No NJ business return to file
Did I get it right?
Thank you, Christophe
