My 17 yr old decided to file for small part time job and did not select she could be claimed as a dependent on another's return. I tried to file same day and Irs rejected it saying the obvious and I must have a pin, which I now have. Question is if I try and file using the pin, will it prolong the process to decide who is eligible or do I wait 10 plus days to amend hers. Basically what are the options in this type of scenario?

If your dependent Amends their return, it must be mailed in and could take up to 16 weeks to process. Don't Amend until their Refund is received. They may need to pay back some of the refund with their Amended Return.
Go ahead and try to Efile with your PIN. If you're Rejected again, you may need to mail your return. You'll receive your Refund as shown on your return. You'll most likely not be contacted by the IRS, but you can explain that your dependent wrongly filed and amended their return if so.

She has to amend her return to say someone can claim her. You can claim her but have to print and mail your return.
