Amending returns

When amending a return (ERTC refund), should I re-import the updated Quickbooks file or just update item lines on the tax forms. It seems like the balancing would be all off if I don't import but the IRS instructions say to correct and identify the line items.  These would be 1120's and 1040's and state forms.
