Yes, you entered your infomration correctly. When you begin an amended return, the software resets the refund meter to $0. If you have completed all of your changes and the meter remains at $0, the updates you made to the return did not affect on your refund amount.
Please be advised: If entering your 1098-E did not affect your return, you do not need to file an amended return. For more information on how the information on your 1098-E affects your taxable income, please see the link below.
Also, the IRS states that amended returns are not submitted until you receive your initial refund. The IRS is set to finalize the 1040X in February.
