If he filed before you then you will have to print and mail your tax return.  It cannot be e-filed since the IRS has already received a tax return with your SS number included on the return.

No you cannot e-file this year.   if someone claimed you--even by mistake----your SSN is in the system for the year and the only way you can file your own tax return is to print it, sign it in ink, and mail it.   Your step-dad's amended return will never "catch up" in the system to allow you to e-file.

 

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
