Are you asking about the line for a date next to the signature line on page 2 of your Form 1040? When you e-file, those lines are blank on the form. There is no physical signature when you e-file because you "signed" electronically, and there is no date next to that line. If you are ever asked by a lender or a college, for example, for a signed and dated copy of your tax return, use a pen, and sign and date it in ink to make them happy.
