Why is my refund being sent in a check and not direct deposit as I stated on my return?

My routing number and bank account number are correct but the IRS is sending me a check instead of a direct deposit.

If Direct Deposit fails, IRS sends a check.
Something went wrong.

Your bank may or may not be able to tell you what.
