Why did you take more then half of my stimulus money from my bank account to pay state taxes? My state taxes aren't even due yet.

You may want to make sure that what you are looking at in your bank account is your stimulus payment.  The IRS is not withholding anything from this except back child support.

Oh, I'm looking correctly, and I've been on the phone with the State of Idaho whom you took out the payment for.  They said they have no control over it, and that several people have been calling in the "same boat".  The State of Idaho says it is all Turbo Tax customers.  The taxes you took out are not even due until 7/15/2020, and like you just said, there wasn't supposed to be ANY offsets taken from the Stimulus check,  unless there was back child support.  I suggest Turbo Tax figures this out because you are going to have a lot of upset people on your hands.  I'm working on reaching someone at the Federal level now.

TurboTax cannot deduct anything from an IRS stimulus payment.  TurboTax is not a bank.

Look at your bank account.

You will probably see a deposit from the US Treasury for your stimulus payment on April 15, 2020

You will also probably see a debit from the State of Idaho on April 15, 2020

When you filed your state tax return and had state taxes owed, did you request to have the state taxes owed debited from your bank account?  If so, that information is sent with your state tax return along with the date you requested to have the state taxes paid.  If no date was entered, the date defaults to April 15, 2020 depending on when you filed the state tax return.  The state debited your account.

To verify the debit information and the date the state taxes were to be paid you will need to look at the Idaho Information Worksheet in Part V.

I would have never had that amount set up to debit from my account when I did our taxes back in January.  We rarely use this savings account, and our income is direct deposited to a different bank.  There is usually only $50-$100 in this account.  The amount debited today was almost $1600.  I would not have knowingly set this up.  The State of Idaho said they had several calls today and I talked to them at 10am.  I find it very sketchy that the money "just happened" to be debited the same day as we received our Stimulus Checks.  And, obviously in January I had no idea this was coming.  I will call the State of Idaho again and continue to the Feds.  I will not let this go!  The Stimulus Check specified over and over again that no off sets would happen unless it was for child support.  This IS an offset!

If this was not a payment for state taxes owed, then who was the Payee for the debit from the account?

The only other thing TurboTax related would be if you requested to have your TurboTax account fees deducted from the Federal Tax Refund and the tax refund has been delayed.  In this case you would have received 4 emails from TurboTax requesting payment before the account would have been debited.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for account fees payment when the federal tax refund is delayed - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/charges-and-fees/help/why-was-my-bank-account-auto-debited-for-tur...

If you did not request to have the TurboTax account fees paid from the federal tax refund and you did not have any state taxes owed debited from the account, then there is something else going on.

It was for state tax owed in 2019.  It was due today on a regular year, but extended to June 15 this year.  You also debited me for payment for taxes and debited way more then I understood it to be.  This is the 3rd year we have used you.  The first two years were great.  After this year, never again.

When you filed your state tax return in January the payment date was on or before April 15, 2020 for the state taxes owed.  The Idaho governor extended the payment date to June 15, 2020 by proclamation on March 13, 2020.

To have your state taxes payment date changed from April 15 to June 15 you had to contact your state to make the change.  TurboTax cannot legally change the payment date for any taxes owed, federal or state.

The TurboTax account fees were specifically shown to you in the File section of the online program on Step 1 before you were asked to select a payment method.  The Review of your charges had the final amount owed.  However, since you requested to have the TurboTax account fees deducted from the federal tax refund, there was an additional $40 service charge clearly shown for this option.
