Why can I amend my 2025 return right now?

Form 1040X (Amended tax return) isn't yet available for 2025. It is expected to be available by February 19, 2026. If your original tax return has already been filed and accepted by the IRS, it is recommended that you wait to amend until the return and any refunds or payments have been processed. If not, it may cause your return to be delayed even more.
