Where did you get the date?  If the date was shown on TurboTax, that is an estimate based on a common 21-day processing time.   Some refunds come earlier than 21 days, some later.  Only go by any date and message shown at the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool.

https://www.irs.gov/Refunds

Or if that March 7 date was shown to you on the IRS website, then the IRS says to allow up to 5 days due to variations in bank processing procedures.

Tips when using the IRS WMR tool:

  • Be sure you enter the correct SSN and filing status.
  • Be sure you are using only the Federal refund amount.   Do not include any state refund or any total refund or net refund (Fed and State) that TurboTax may have provided on a screen.
  • Also be sure you are using the Federal amount before any TurboTax fees are taken out (if you chose that option.)
  • Look at your actual Federal return to get the Federal refund amount, i.e., your Form 1040, Line 35a.

Where is my money

The date was on TurboTax March 7 . The locator tracker shows to the last bubble filled other than the last one it just sits on the last one I'm guessing due to the 7th being and passing . However the IRS site says accepted nothing else a date nothing not even on the app everyone talking about hopefully as mentioned it's taking up to 5 days and refund this morning due to it being the next business day and day 4 after the 7th . I'm just needing it ASAP 🙏🏾❣️ and Friday was womans day I don't know if chime consider it a holiday but I'm aware they don't deposit on holidays or weekends and if the deposit dropped after 8pm I'll have to wait until the next business day for the deposit just really need answers literally

Only the IRS knows what all they are doing with your return.   If you're having a financial hardship, I'll include info below on how to reach the IRS and also how to talk to the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service.   But first:

Any date shown on TurboTax is only an estimate, based on a common 21-day average.   Only go by a date when one is given by the IRS "Where's My Refund" website.

https://www.irs.gov/Refunds

When the IRS finishes processing your return, the IRS WMR tool should first say the refund is "approved", and finally it should say "sent" and provide an expected date.    Once the IRS tool changes to "sent" and a date is provided, the IRS says allow up to 5 days due to variations in bank processing procedures.

NOTE:   Here's something else to keep in mind, if it applies to you.  If it doesn't apply to you, just ignore the following:

If you chose to pay any TurboTax fees out of your Federal refund, the funds will go first from the IRS to an account at a third-party intermediary bank where the fees are subtracted.  Then that intermediary bank sends the rest of the funds to your bank account (or card).   That process is administered by Santa Barbara Tax Products Group (SBTPG.)   If you DID use that payment method, and if the IRS website says the refund has been sent, you can check on the refund by looking up your info at SBTPG's website.   Use the "For Taxpayers" button at this page:

https://www.sbtpg.com/

If you did NOT choose that "pay out of refund" method, then just ignore this paragraph.

If you want to phone the IRS, here's how to reach a live IRS agent:

IRS:  800-829-1040 (7AM-7 PM local time) Monday-Friday

When calling the IRS do not choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.

  • When prompted, choose your language.  Then listen to each menu before making the selection.
  • Then press 2 for "personal income tax".
  • Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
  • Then press 3 "for all other questions."
  • Then press 2 "for all other questions."
  • It may then ask for your SSN, but do not enter it.  Just wait.    If it asks for SSN a second time, still do not enter it.
  • Then it will get "tired", and you'll get another menu.  Choose 2 for "personal".
  • Then in the next menu choose 4 for "all other inquiries", and it should transfer you to an agent but expect a long wait.
  • I usually use a speakerphone so I can work on something else while waiting.

If you don't get a good answer from the IRS, if there are continued delays, and if you're having a financial hardship, you can talk to the local IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service in your state.   To get the contact phone number, choose your state in the dropdown list of states at this IRS website:
