You apply just when you efile the return.   Application for TurboTax Refund Advance opened on December 19, 2025.   You will receive a final decision of whether you are approved for a Refund Advance after you file your taxes and the IRS accepts your return. You won't receive your funds until the IRS starts accepting returns, which is typically late January.
