Where do I enter tax refund income that I received last year?
For the federal tax refund, you do not report it as income on your 2019 taxes. It is not a taxable event. However, for the state tax refund, you only report it if you claimed a deduction for state and local taxes on your 2018 tax return.
To enter state tax refunds in TurboTax online, here are the steps:
- Sign back into your account, select Pick up where you left off
- To your right upper corner, in the search box, type in "state tax refunds" and Enter
- Select Jump to state tax refunds
