When will I know if my refund advance is approved?

The advance cannot be approved until your tax return is accepted. The IRS is not accepting 2020 returns until the end of January. Right now your return is in "pending" on a server if you already e-filed, and it will remain in pending until the end of the month. Watch your emails for the acceptance/rejection notice.
