The payment will go to the account you entered for direct deposit on the 2019 tax return.  If the account is closed the IRS will send the payment by mail or on a debit card.

Not entirely true. The IRS sent our stimulus to Turbo Tax as we deducted our fees from our refund when filing our 2019 taxes.

from what I’m told, the money goes to a third party bank, is rejected and returned to the IRS who has to cut a paper check to be mailed.
