What's taking my refund so long? I have code 1541 on IRS site.

I have something from the mail carrier where you can get an update everyday to see what type of mail your getting and it’s and email. So when I woke up this morning, I received and email today and it had a letter from the irs. So I should expect it today

I have yet to receive anything. I have not called. I did check the IRS2Go yesterday. Simply because the representative I spoke with over a week ago said to check it and as usual it’s still processing. I did see on another forum that someone said you can check the Santa Barbara website to see if your refund had even been sent through TT. I checked and as usual, NOTHING! So, I’ve just been following this forum. I do wonder if it’s something with filing with Turbo Tax personally because this is the first year out of 3 years I’ve filed with them that this has happened plus they didn’t ask for a picture of my W2 this year. They ask every year or either I have the option of taking the picture. I received neither promp this year. Seeing all the chaos, it’s put a lot of questions on my mind. I am curious as to how people know when things update...so if someone can explain it, thanks in advance.

O don't think it has to do with who u filed with, cause I didn't file with turbo and I am going through the same crap. But like I said before if anyone is in financial troubles do what I did.( The instructions are on page 20 or 21 of these messages I believe)

For the hardship program is there a certain time period before u can request this assistance. Far as the 21 days are Sunday’s included? Or president day? Would that affect how many days you been processing I filed on the 3rd and accepted on the 4th I have code 521 & was told no info was needed at this time they have 45 days from March 15th & refund expected by April 25th all they went over my head can some one please advise what I should do at this point?? Ok so I called irs to find out what is going on. And for once I talked to someone who was nice and finally told me what is going on. So first thing she told me was a letter got mailed to me on the 21st. So from that day they have 45 days to review. “ she also said it usually is never that long “. She also told me what that letter said. Letter states that the my r just delaying the return to make sure of income tax credit and wages and that their is no action needed to be from my end. It’s in review. She also stated that yes they r behind. And that the processing center has not entered all w2s from employers. If they don’t see ur w2 within a few weeks or week they will notify the employer to send it over via fax to process it sooner. So when they tell u that it’s cause of ur wages it’s cause either ur employer was late or irs hasn’t processed it yet. So that letter is telling u theirs nothing u can do but wait now. Hope this helps u all with whoever know they r getting that letter

I'm not sure on any time period, but I just called and it took like 5 min. I just told them that I was having money problems and she said that I qualified and that somebody would be calling me in the next 5 business days and that they would tell the IRS to release my funds as long as I didn't owe them any paperwork or anything

It’s not just turbo tax. Ppl who didn’t use turbo tax are having the same issues

Soooo...I decided to go ahead and call. I was told that I would be receiving a letter in the mail. The representative could not give me any information on what the letter would contain. She also stated that I have to allow the IRS 45 days to process my return. She told me to note on my calendar that if I did not receive the letter and/or a refund by April 25th to give them a call back. She stated that I should "Follow the directions noted in the letter" whenever I receive the letter. She stated the letter is set to be sent out today 02/28/2019. As of now my return is still being reviewed. By the way, I pressed option 2 when i called. I was answered in under 5 mins.

I got the same code and now mine says take action and gives me a # and reference code but when I called it is all automated and just says theres a delay....i have no idea whats going on.
