Tax Topic 152 is generic payout information generally seen if you have chosen direct deposit of your funds.  Your message simply means you are being processed.

Why is there a generic message if it has been a month since I efiled? Why can’t I get ahold of anyone regarding my refund?

Tax Topic 152 is just a message from the IRS letting you know they are processing your tax return.  Once the IRS finishes processing it, they will update your status and then will add an estimated refund time on Where's My Refund? as applicable. Please see this IRS article for more information:  https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc152

You can call the IRS for status. Please expect long hold times and calling in the a.m. is usually better.

Here are some tips when contacting the IRS:

  • First choose your language.
  • Then do not choose the first choice regarding REFUND, or it will send you to an automated phone line.
  • Instead, press 2 for personal income tax questions.
  • Then press 1 for form, tax history, or payment.
  • Then press 3 for all other questions.
  • Then press 2 for all other questions to be transferred to an agent

Please see this TurboTax FAQ on what to have ready before you contact the IRS: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/irs/help/what-do-i-need-if-i-call-the-irs/00/27378

If you need to inquire about a state refund please contact your state Department of Revenue.
