What is happening?
I filed and was approved on Feb 3rd. I have received 4 letters from the IRS saying I had to give them another 60 days to review my numbers and there is nothing more I can do. I have not received either return. Az Dept of revenue owes me money but sent me a letter saying I owe them. My turbo tax account shows that my returns were accepted, but hasn't moved since. I need my return(s). What can I do?

You need to call the IRS and ask what the reason for the hold up is and what you can do to get the returns processed. Also contact the AZ tax department and ask the same questions. No one at TurboTax knows what is going on with your returns.

What is happening?
TurboTax never tells you that your refund was "approved." TT only tells you if the e-file was "accepted." Accepted and approved are not the same thing. Once the IRS accepts your return, only the IRS can tell you what is happening with it. TurboTax gets no information from the IRS after you file your return.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2023 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 3 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
