If you filed your return before the IRS officially started accepting returns, more than likely your return sat on the TurboTax server, waiting on the IRS. For some of those returns, the IRS will pull them off the servers and process as a part of testing their systems to ensure they are ready for the mass filings. If your return was filed and processed prior to February 12, it would not cause a delay or create a problem. If there is a delay with the processing of your return, it would be something else.
Both (My husband and I) were sent (completed) on the 12th of February via TurboTax. When I FINALLY got an individual they said it may delay because it was done before they started accepting. I am so confused. My husband and I filed different returns...separately, on the same day and we have the same responses. Delay. Thanks for your response.
I'm not sure that I understand your question completely. Have your tax returns been accepted by the IRS? The completed status means the return is complete. The delayed status meant that TurboTax was holding the return until the IRS began accepting returns. Most tax returns process within 21 days after they are accepted. You may track the status of your return at www.irs.gov/refunds. However, some may take longer. TurboTax does not receive any updates on the status of returns once the IRS accepts them. This means If it's been longer than 21 days since you e-filed your tax return and your return was accepted by the IRS, you'll have to speak directly to IRS to find out more about the delay.
