I am using the macOS turbotax 2022 to try and amend my already filed, accepted, and paid 2022 tax return
specifically trying to file the now available 8915-f
here is what i do:
i start a new return, and select to amend an already-filed return
however, it doesnt transfer my name or address from my 2022 return, and seems missing other critical information like my gross income etc. (see screenshots)
as well it keeps running "smart check" and asking me the same questions repeatedly.
as a result i cannot amend my return. Please help!

You don't start a new return. Doesn't Amend show up on the first screen when you launch the program? Then you pick your original return.
Or open your return and find Amend under
Federal Taxes or Personal (for Home & Business)
Other Tax Situations
apologies if my name shows up differently now , but i am the OP
whether i do "new return" specifically, or close the existing one to get to the launch screen and click "amend return" it is the same problem.
i make the above selections, but it does not import my 2022 return at all, all information is missing and it does not provide valid results.
your first screen, you are in a new return.
the caption bar has to show the name of the TurboTax file that you sent to the IRS.
Then, make sure it is still exactly what you filed.
Then, click AMEND.
" it does not import my 2022 return at all"
You have to start by opening that tax return.
make a backup copy and printout of tax return first.
once you start amending you will lose the originally filed data.
you guys must be looking at different software.
i am on macOS
there is no splash screen unless i do “new return”
otherwise if i have my filed return open there is no “amend” button or option anywhere
here is the ONLY place i am finding an option to "amend"
i get here ONLY by doing "new return". i do not see amend anywhere else if i have my filed return opened.
clicking this "amend" leads to the problems mentioned above
i think i may have found it under "other tax situations"
@fanfare @VolvoGirl so i opened the existing return and had to go into "federal" then "other tax situations" then at the bottom was "amend a return"
it loaded everything i needed and all worked! thank you for inspiring me to keep looking.
couldnt agree more... what in the world 😕 i figure they are intentionally making the UX bad for desktop to drive people to the online version.. 🤷
