I've been using Turbotax for at least a decade. I've got a very simple return that is ready to print. Turbotax Premier 2024 is not letting me print. There is no problem with my Canon printer. I can print from Excel, for example. My iMac operating system and Turbotax says my Turbotax application is up to date.
Update 1-27-25: By the way, I have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on my machine and I have had a session open during the failed print jobs.
Update 2: 1-27-25: Is there anybody that I can escalate the question to?
Update 3:It looks like there's an [phone number removed] number. I'll try that on Friday when I get some free time.
Update 4: eight hundred - four hundred forty-six, eight thousand, eight hundred forty-eight.
Update 5: Still NOT SOLVED. Opened Turbotax. Checked for program updates. Print job seems to start normally. Got a "boop" sound as the print window closed. Nothing prints to my Canon printer (which prints fine to other programs). No pdf print file created. STILL NOT SOLVED. Will call the 800 number this weekend to try to get help. Apparently Intuit published defective software.
Update 6: Sunday 2/2/25: Spent an hour on the phone with the Turbotax "Help" Desk. Determined that they could not help me. My new best friend Sam assigned an issue number (154 26 40 868)and said he would escalate the issue to "Tier 2".
The cherry on top of the brown smelly sundae was that I almost immediately got an email saying that my case was CLOSED. So I called back in AGAIN to Turbotax "Help" Desk to confirm that the issue was still open. Spent another 30 minutes on the phone to confirm that the issue was still open. Was disconnected. Spent another 30 minutes on the phone (second try) to confirm that the issue was still open.
Found that TURBOTAX HAD IN FACT CLOSED THE ISSUE. Asked a Turbotax "Help" Desk person to reopen the issue. She said she couldn't do it. That only my new best friend Sam could do that.
Still Turbotax 2024 for Mac will not print. Vaporware.

I am having the same issue. Everything is updated and I have the full version Acrobat installed, but can only get the program to preview the returns, not print. Clicking the "Print Returns" button shows it's prepping it to print, then it makes a sound and disappears. Restarted system a few times, cleared all the caches and nothing changes.
Nope.
I've checked the usual iMac folders (Recents, Documents, Pictures, Downloads, etc.).
There is no pdf file or any other file format.
If you are right, where would Turbotax have printed the return?
And why in the world would Turbotax not have given me the alternative to print to my Canon printer?
Update 1/28/25: Turbotax software updated. Adobe Acrobat application open. Excel prints to my Canon printer; no problem. Turbotax still does not print to my Canon and no pdf file created. Will spend time on the phone with the Turbotax help line on Friday.

I am having the same problem. Desktop Turbotax will not let me print my return or save it as PDF. HP Printer. I just get the spinning wheel. When I try "force quit" it says "TurboTax 2024 not responding" I've tried selecting just the 1040 form itself to print...same problem. Can't save as PDF, or print it.
I'm assuming it's a program glitch and a forthcoming TurboTax update will fix it. Can't believe something as simple as printing (not contingent on tax form changes) would be an issue with any release. Basic operations if you ask me...
Work-around until Intuit fixes the print function.
1) Use the "Save to PDF" option in the "File" menu of the desktop program and save a copy of your returns to location you can easily find on your computer.
2) Open the PDF of your returns in your PDF reader program (acrobat, Preview, etc.) and use that program to print to your local printer.
Worked for me.
Exactly my experience. Still no printing.
When I started down this rabbit hole, I would get a little "boop" sound when the print job pretended to finish (without printing). The last few times, I didn't get the "boop", but maybe I'm losing my hearing.
I got some funky problems similar to yours. I got errors related to "failure to update system" and other errors. Shutting down Turbotax, shutting down my iMac and letting it sleep overnight seemed to sure those other funky problems. But still no printing.
I was surprised the “Save to PDF” function actually saved a copy of my returns just like printing them as a PDF would have. Program still needs to be fixed so you don’t have to do the workaround.
Thanks for trying, but it didn't work for me.
Went File> Print (from the Turbotax menu).
Got iMac spinning beachball of death.
Waited 10 minutes while spinning beachball of death spun.
Gave up and forced shut down.
Tried printing again with the same result — no print file, no print output.
Still it is very helpful to know that I'm not the only one with the problem; Turbotax like so many software vendors ship partially functional product hoping that nobody notices. (Who is printing returns on January 28?)
1/29/2025 Having exactly same issue. Will not print. Print dialog never appears and make the boop sound. Reinstalled TT and did all the other jump through hoops wasting my time. It finally did print a PDF for me so I print a form I needed to fulfill a business obligation. Have been using this software for over a decade without issue and this is just unacceptable intuit., this is not your first rodeo. How about you release an update that fixes the print issues ASAP.
Try this until they figure out what's wrong with their software. Open acrobat app then try to save your file as a PDF, print from the PDF. It worked for me...
Thanks for confirming there is a problem. (Still a problem at Thursday 1/30 early am.)
My Apple iMac setup somehow did not create a pdf (or if it did I couldn't find the pdf in the usual places).
If you have any tips on how to create a pdf (or where to look for it), I'd appreciate it.
I'm taking a day off Friday to spend "quality time" with the Turbotax help desk to 1) get them to admit there is a problem and 2) get them to commit to a date by when they will get it fixed.
