TT asks me for reason of ammendment to the return while I haven't filed it yet.

Hi, I've paid for the tax prep, and wanted to review the PDF before filing. I didn't file it electronically or via mail, I just exported as PDF because I wanted to review the return before I actually file. I did find several errors and fix them but its asking me for reason of ammendment, and my return is also marked as "ammended return".  Is there a way to remove this ammendment flag since i have not filed anything yet?  Is there an issue filing the return as "ammended return" even though i have not filed anything previously? Asking for Federal, NY state, and IN State.  Thank you

When you are signed onto your online account and actually accessing the 2024 amended tax return, on the left side of the online program screen, click on Cancel Amend.

If you made changes while it was an amended return, you need to remove those changes before cancelling the amended return.

When you amend a return your original return is overwritten.  All of the changes you made when amended will stay on your return until you remove them manually.  Cancel your amend and then review your return before you file it.

For those of you who have same issue as me and have accidentally "file manually" but need to change after, instead of "ammend" you can just go to your 2024 return and hit "add another state" even though you are not adding a new state return and this will allow you to edit your return without filing or "ammending" your return.  Here is a link i just found!

Actually this worked for federal tax return, but it still says "ammended return" on my state returns. If anyone knows how to get rid of this flag would appreciate. thank you!

You can try to do the following to delete your state amended return:

If you are using TurboTax Online:

1. Sign in to TurboTax and open your return by selecting Continue or Pick up where you left off.
2. In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.
3. In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
4. Select Delete next to the amended form for the state. 

If you are using TurboTax Desktop:

1. Open your return.
2. Switch to Forms mode.
3. In the left pane, select your state amended form and select "Delete"
4. Follow the prompts
