There is an action required on my tax return

If there is a code 1541, it just means that there may be a backlog with the IRS, but I have included some additional information that may help with your issue.

1541 is an an internal code that the IRS uses to identify returns that have been "Delayed". That doesn't mean there is something wrong with your return, it could simply be that the IRS has an overflow of returns at this time and is behind schedule on issues refunds. There are different reasons accounting for the 1541 reference number.

To be absolutely sure on the status of your refund, I would recommend to, in the following order:
1) Contact the Turbo Tax phone support and ask them to look into the status of your refund.

  • Select the platform and edition of the TurboTax product you are using. Type your question in the "Ask your question" box, then click Continue.
  • •On the next screen, click Call.
  • •Enter your contact information and click "Get Phone Number."
  • •The next screen will give you a telephone number to call and an incident number.

2) Navigating to the IRS website's page Where's My Refund?

3) Use the TurboTax Refund Tracker, which projects an estimated date range on when you can expect your refund, based on other TurboTax customers who have already received their refunds.

4) Contact the IRS directly mention the reference the code 1541 to them.
