I just wanted to give others some hope, I've been checking these message boards every day seeing if anyone else recieved their refund after responding to this letter. On 2/3 my refund was accepted, I claimed the EITC, then on around 2/8 the bars on WMR dissapered and it simply said "your refund is being processed" etc etc. I knew that wasn't good, I've never had that turn into a good sign. Then on 2/18 I recieved this letter, saying I needed to call and confirm my identity. 2/23 I called and spoke with probably the sweetest woman working for the IRS, she was beyond patient, understanding, and calming. I was only on hold for 3 minutes before reaching someone, call late around 5:30, that's the key!
I answered all the typical questions, mothers maiden name, city born, prior years tax returns (I could not access my last year's return, the woman let me use another years return from 2014 instead) she then informed me my refund was being placed back in processing and it would take 9 weeks, worst case scenario, or I'd get a letter in the mail stating they need more information. Ugh I was devastated, since I had a similar experience a few years ago and didn't see my refund for almost a year..
Every day I was checking after I called, to see any change in my refund. Never really expecting any change, checked on Saturday 2/25, and the bars were back on WMR!! It states my refund was approved and will be deposited on March 1 !!! So anyone else going through this, there is hope and it will not take months to see your refund! It was only a few days after I called to confirm that my refund was then approved, thank god!!!
